21 Engine

1949 Mack L Pumper

A vintage red fire truck from Pleasant Hill with "1951" marked on it is parked on a residential street. The truck has shiny chrome details, an American flag, and fire equipment on the sides. Trees and brick houses are in the background.

21 Engine is a 1949 Mack L Pumper. This is one of the first fire trucks ever purchased by the PHVFC and responded to fires for nearly 50 years. It was brought out of retirement briefly during Hurricane Katrina to assist in pumping the flooded homes of Pleasant Hills. Today, it serves as a source of pride for our members, a treasured piece of history, and a favorite of residents at parades. However, 21 Engine is still in excellent condition, so it’s ready to go back into service if ever needed.
